No problem!

During the festive break, many people will have whiled away the odd half hour or so by doing crosswords, sudoku grids, word searches and other puzzles.
Such challenges appeal to a certain mindset and perhaps it’s the same with hire.
“I say to potential recruits to the business that if they enjoy solving puzzles, they’ll enjoy working in this industry,” Steve Hitchen, managing director of One Stop Hire told me recently.
“Every day in hire involves finding solutions. Whether it’s urgent enquiries, collections, deliveries, breakdowns, staffing issues, vehicles or plant, one or the other will always throw a curve ball at you. You’ve got to be able to meet the challenge and come up with the answer.”
Steve also says that One Stop Hire has successfully been recruiting more personnel into its growing business which currently has 25 depots and employs more than 200 people.
Some of these new appointments have come from retail and service backgrounds, graduate programmes, work experience placements and apprenticeships under the Government’s Kickstart scheme, broadening the diversity of the workforce and expanding its skills set.
A Happy and Healthy New Year to all followers of the blog.
