Nationwide tests slew control

Nationwide Platforms has been involved in the development of a height and slew control for mobile elevated work platforms over the past 12 months.

Nationwide’s in-house Blue Sky Solutions team has worked with Xwatch Safety Solutions and its distribution partner Sphere 24 to devise a system compatible with scissor lifts, boom lifts and truck mounts.

The machines were to be used at high-profile National Highways projects and schemes including HS2 and Hinkley Point C.

Chris Trent managing director of Sphere 24, said the system is designed to meet safety standards set by Tier One contractors and to be more practical in operation on a job site.

James Samuel, head of product innovations at Blue Sky Solutions and Nationwide Platforms, which are both part of the Loxam Group, added: “We needed a safety solution for our fleet that met and exceeded safety regulations. The Xwatch team and Sphere 24 were able to deliver – a real combined effort.”
