CEA’s COP wish list
29 October 2021
Ahead of the COP26 Climate Summit that officially opens on 31 October in Glasgow, the Construction Equipment Association (CEA) has stated its hope that the discussions address a number of issues surrounding the adoption of net-zero solutions facing the industry.
These include challenges relating to the powering and performance of larger machines using alternatives to diesel, such as batteries, electricity and hydrogen, and the overall infrastructure required.
Amongst specific topics that the association highlights are: how to recycle batteries at the end of their life; the future use of machines with lower tiered engines that are no longer able to work in the UK and are sold abroad; fuel storage; the impact of using the diesel alternative HVO (hydrotreated vegetable oil) on a machine’s engine; and a short term solution for cleaning diesel to avoid contamination.
