Shindaiwa Ltd is set for another record year.

Indeed, Andy Munford, managing director of the welder generator and lighting equipment supplier, tells me that the business surpassed last year’s figure (also a record) within the first six months of 2021.

The company continues to benefit from demand created by the ongoing need for equipment at coronavirus testing and vaccination sites, and from facilities like refineries and utilities that had to put maintenance shutdowns on hold during the lockdowns and are now catching up.

This has led to ongoing orders from national and independent hirers for products like Shindaiwa’s Eco range of welder generators and its Sitebright lighting for use in potentially hazardous environments.

“We’re becoming more widely recognised as a supplier of Zone 1 and 2 Atex approved lighting solutions for these industries,” said Andy. “And generally, the hire sector is very strong at the moment.”

Sales director Tom Page added that Shindaiwa has had a positive response to its introduction of 3D graphic displays of products on its website.

“The scanned images allow people to inspect the equipment in 360 degrees,” he said. “We introduced it following the first lockdown because people couldn’t travel to see the products first hand, and it’s proved very popular.”
