HAE response wins Gold

Since starting the blog in the wake of Covid-19 just over a year ago, a number of hirers have said how much they appreciated the HAE’s efforts in presenting the industry’s case to the Government for recognition as essential service. 

So the association is a worthy winner of the Gold award for Best Covid Response at the recent National Association Awards 2021 in London.

CEO Paul Gaze (pictured right) and marketing project lead Stuart Tyrrell collected the trophy at the presentation ceremony in front of an audience representing trade associations from many industry sectors.

With many hire companies needing to remain open or re-opening to support busy customers, the HAE’s public affairs manager, Mark Bradshaw, lobbied the government to have hire classified as essential retail.

The association also issued advice on how to implement appropriate measures to minimise the spread of infection, including social distancing and hygiene arrangement.  

In the blog’s opinion, the comprehensive guidance documents HAE produced on creating a safe depot environment and on testing machinery are particularly noteworthy. They were written and regularly updated by Carl Bartlett, HAE’s director of certification services.  

Paul Gaze said: "This award reflects the efforts of our member-led board and staff to deliver critical support for the hire industry during the most challenging times that most of us have ever faced.

“We are delighted that this has been recognised nationally in what has been a real team effort."
