Tsurumi makes a splash

People all over the world have been watching the canoe slalom competitions during the prestigious sporting events currently taking place in Japan. 

However, just as technically impressive as the competitors’ performances is the fact that 15 Tsurumi submersible pumps are being used to pump the water and create turbulence for the contests. 

Matthew Hill, managing director of Obart Pumps which is the Tsurumi distributor for the UK, says that three of the pumps being used have 150kW motors and can pump an astonishing 4,000 litres per second. 

“As a comparison, our LB480 2-inch submersible model pumps less than 0.5 litres per second. So that’s the equivalent of over 1,000 LB480s being used.” 

● Another impressive number is that Matthew (below) today celebrates no less than 35 years’ service with Obart. During that time he has established the company as an integral hire brand and Matthew himself has become a well-known figure on the industry circuit. Congratulations to him!
