Speedy delivers with £10m fleet investment

Speedy has invested £10 million in new products to continue fulfilling its four-hour guaranteed delivery promise, reflecting increased customer demand for quick site deliveries.

The investment adds 25,000 new assets to the company’s most popular 350 products made available through the service, such as lighting towers, power tools and materials handling equipment from the hirer’s 200 service centres across the UK and Ireland. 

Speedy says it has fulfilled 13,000 four-hour deliveries during the last 12 months, which represents a 30% year-on-year increase for the service, which guarantees equipment will be delivered within four hours when ordered before 3pm, or customers receive a week’s free hire.

This £10 million commitment follows the £27 milion invested in new kit since September last year, as the business responds to increased customer activity. 

Dan Evans, Speedy’s chief operating officer, said: “The growing demand for our four-hour delivery promise reflects the value it’s providing our customers, helping them to be more productive and complete projects on time by giving them quick access to essential site equipment. 

The initiative derives from an initial trial called Capital Commitment set up in May 2018 for contractors operating in London, established by London and South East regional director Dan Rice. It was expanded throughout the UK in January 2020, with the available range increased from 52 to 350 products in September last year.
