Creating stronger links

Soon after yesterday’s blog post about the impact of delays and supply chain disruption in the wake of the pandemic, a key industry supplier coincidentally released details of the strenuous efforts it has made to maintain business as usual.

The Hire Supply Company (HSC) says that internal changes which it has implemented over the past year have enabled it to boost efficiency and absorb a percentage of the price increases incurred over the period, in many cases not passing increases on.

“We are only increasing prices when new stock makes its way into our supply chain,” says MD Gary McWilliam. “If the stock was already in our warehouse prior to the raw material price increases, container price rises, and the general chaos surrounding importing products that we are all having to deal with, we have not altered the price.

“To maintain a continuity of supply, we source products from many different suppliers within Europe,” he adds, “obviously ensuring that the product customers receive is safe, reliable and of the quality expected from HSC.

“We are working closely with our suppliers and couriers who are themselves facing unprecedented issues and we will continue to provide the best possible service we can.”

HSC is obviously just one of countless suppliers who are having to deal with an unparalleled situation and their efforts to maintain an efficient operation should be applauded by customers.

And it again shows the benefits of building close trading relationships with trusted suppliers.
