Speedy’s green drive

Speedy has appointed a dedicated environment, social and governance (ESG) director as the business increases its focus on sustainability.

Amelia Woodley, pictured below, joins from South Western Railway where she spent three years as head of sustainability. She has almost 20 years’ experience in delivering ESG strategies, having previously held senior leadership positions at Network Rail, AIG Engineering and BAE Systems.

Amelia will have oversight of Speedy’s long-term ESG programme, Energise, to provide more sustainable products and services for customers, along with new programmes to support the hirer’s employees and local communities.

The move follows the firm’s recent multi-million pound investments in sustainable products and the overhaul of its company car list - reported earlier on the blog here - which now consists almost entirely of ultra low emission vehicles (ULEVs) .

Russell Down, Speedy’s chief executive, said: “Responsibility and sustainability have always been at the heart of everything we do at Speedy and we are committed to working with our people customers and suppliers to build a more sustainable future.”

Amelia added, “I’m looking forward to building on the progress the company has already made, from providing greener logistics and zero-emission products to introducing active health and wellbeing programmes, and creating new initiatives that will drive positive change for our customers, our business and our suppliers.”
