Digging Scotland

Why are so many hirers currently so busy? In many cases it’s because they’re prepared to act quickly to explore new markets and invest to meet customer needs, and that’s certainly true of Eagle Plant Hire.

Eagle, which has depots in Glasgow and Edinburgh and opened a Survey & Safety operation last October, has now added fusion welding equipment to its fleet.

“It’s to meet the needs of gas, water and utility customers who are simply flat out,” sales director Iain MacDonald tells me. “In fact, it seems as if the whole of Scotland is being dug up at the moment!

“We have a contract with a large utility contractor that covers the country. We had previously been re-hiring the welding boxes they needed, which suited us because of their specialist nature.

“But we’ve now recruited a dedicated engineer who can provide support to utility customers working throughout Scotland and the north of England. This falls neatly under our Survey & Safety umbrella.”

Eagle has invested in 60 fusion welding boxes and Iain says that more customers have opened accounts as news has spread of their availability. The nature of this work also creates demand for other fleet items like mini excavators, gas detectors, traffic management systems and road plates.

Iain tells me that Eagle achieved another record month recently and I understand there will be more developments to look out for from the company in the future.
