Bi-energy for Banner

Bi-energy for Banner

The main reason for adopting green technology is obviously the desired reduction in carbon emissions. However, there can be other considerations that make environmentally-friendly equipment an attractive hire choice.

This is shown by Banner Plant’s recent purchase of four more Snorkel scissor lifts fitted with bi-energy power systems, which are available on all the manufacturer’s narrow and compact rough terrain models.

The order comprised Snorkel S3370BE and S3970BE machines. The bi-energy system means the lifts can be operated using the engine for outdoor activities, and switched to DC battery power for quiet, zero emission use indoors or in zones with environmental restrictions.

Phil James (pictured), depot manager at Banner Plant’s Rotherham branch, says: “The bi-energy solution is a great option as it can be used in many more applications than a standard diesel compact rough terrain scissor lift, ultimately increasing utilisation opportunities.

“This can either mean that a construction customer may keep the lift on hire for longer, using it on the job site from start to finish – on outdoors tasks initially, and then indoors for the final fit-out stages, or it could mean that we benefit from additional hire possibilities, such as in sensitive environments or low-emission zones where the use of a combustion engine may be prohibited.”

So if green machines help customers meet their sustainability obligations while also offering additional revenue possibilities for hirers, it’s a win-win situation.
