Busy Bruno buys SMC brand

Bruno, the generator and lighting tower manufacturer, has purchased the SMC lighting tower brand together with existing machines, spare parts and intellectual property from Morris Site Machinery.

Italy-based Bruno, whose products are distributed in this country by its subsidiary BGG UK, will integrate SMC within its existing ranges.

“SMC is a well-known brand that goes back a long way,” says Chris Archer, managing director of BGG UK. “There are a lot of SMC machines in the field and we will continue to manufacture them.”

Chris tells me that business generally is “flat out. And we are now seeing demand for Stage V compliant generators. People are really getting on board to comply with the new regulations across all power nodes. We have also developed a twin-pack 1MW unit with two 660kVA Scania engined Stage V units.”

Substantial Investment is currently under way at the BGG facility at Tendring in Essex. Amongst other things, this will enable the company to undertake more repair and refurbishment work on customers’ existing machines. This service is particularly in demand from users who want to operate their Stage IIIa units for as long as possible.

Chris says there are other new product developments in the pipeline from Bruno, which I’ll cover in a future post here on the blog.
