Go with the Flow

Given the increasing frequency of extreme weather events such as flooding, it’s timely that Obart Pumps has introduced a branded range of pump accessories and fittings.

Called Fit&Flow, the line-up of hoses, couplings and fittings complements Obart’s range of submersible and puddle pumps, surface pumps, engine pumps, hand pumps and flood management products made by Tsurumi, Honda, Speroni and APP amongst others.

The range is the brainchild of Obart’s sales director Pete McMutrie, who believes that it can be difficult for hirers and users to find a reliably consistent source of quality components, especially when many are unbranded.

“We have brought together over 70 different products into the Fit&Flow range so that customers have everything they need to hire out pumps in their fleet or carry out pumping work as required. It can be difficult to match couplings and hoses together, so we can offer expert advice as to the most suitable products for the application in hand.”

Pete says that pump hoses are often only available in 50m and 100m lengths, but the new range makes 6m, 10m, 15m, 20m, 30m, 50m and 100m coils available. Hoses come pre-packaged for easy shipping and stocking on trade counter displays.

Accessories and fittings include hose tail, pressure pipe, washers, couplings, nipples, sockets, valves, strainers, clips and clamps. Products can be purchased individually, in packs and in complete kits.

Pete also tells me that he undertook himself all the work necessary in branding and trademark registration for the Fit&Flow range, without using an outside agency.

“You have to select all the categories and descriptions that apply to the product, and there were no fewer than 15,000 to wade through. It took days! But the application was successful and we got the certification at the end of last year.”

As reported on the blog recently, hirers swung into action when flooding hit parts of the country, so Fit&Flow should be a useful addition for when similar events strike in the future.
