MD’s flood response
22 January 2021
MD Tool Hire & Sales of Warrington is typical of the many hirers that have been involved in supplying equipment to premises affected by the severe flooding that has hit several parts of the country in the wake of Storm Christoph.
“It’s been horrendous,” managing director Matt Dolan told me. “It has rained non-stop for 48 hours and several areas have been very badly affected. The main roads are swamped. Some people have been evacuated while others are staying and doing the best they can.
“A food bank charity approached us because they needed to get essential supplies to someone who simply couldn’t get out of their house. We were able to provide a dinghy so that the food could be transported to them safely.
“We have been supplying heaters, dehumidifiers, vacuums, generators and more. All our submersible pumps quickly went out on hire, and Steve McKenzie, the Hire Supply Company’s group sales manager, was able to deliver more to us extremely quickly. They were hired immediately, too.
“We supplied a pump to a stable where the horses were knee-deep in water. We’ve also added 1,000 more sandbags in case they’re needed for future flooding events.”
