House building healthy
7 January 2021
Figures released today show that the house building market remained healthy in December – which is more good news for hirers.
The UK Construction PMI survey compiled by IHS Markit for the Chartered Institute of Procurement & Supply found that the sector saw a sharp rise with an index of 61.9, significantly above the 50.0 no-change threshold.
The overall headline construction index posted 54.6 in December, meaning that the figure has remained above 50.0 for seven consecutive months.
Interestingly, survey respondents reported a boost from new business wins on construction projects that had been deferred at the start of the pandemic.
