Drill deep with Makita

Here’s something we can look forward to in 2021: Makita UK says it plans to unveil a good number of new products in the coming months.

Mark Earles, the company’s business development manager for outdoor power equipment, says, “We are looking forward to releasing more cordless products as part of an exciting and expanding roadmap in 2021.”

As a prelude, Makita has just introduced a new cordless earth auger, the brushless LXT 36V (18Vx2) DDG460. It is designed for a variety of earth boring tasks up to 200mm diameter.

Powered by two 18V LXT lithium-ion batteries, the tool produces a maximum torque of 136Nm and can typically drill approximately 155 holes with a 150mm earth auger, or 90 holes with a 200mm attachment from a single charge.

Features include the manufacturer’s integrated Automatic Torque Drive Technology (ADT) that changes the drilling speed according to the load condition. The tool also has a torque limiter that will activate if the auger binds in the ground.

Should an auger bit jam in soil with high resistance, such as clay, a reversing switch enables the operator to extract it.
