GAP’s Golden gift

GAP’s Golden gift

The revenue obtained from hiring out a special gold mini excavator throughout the year is enabling GAP to make a significant donation to charity.

The machine was itself gifted to the hirer last year by Kubota to commemorate the Glasgow-based company’s Golden Anniversary, having been founded in 1969.

Appropriately called Goldie, the stylish excavator has since been hired out to users across the country. Both companies decided that the proceeds should be donated to The Lighthouse Club construction industry charity which provides physical, mental and financial wellbeing support to workers and their families in the UK and Ireland.

Chris Parr, GAP’s chief operating officer, said, “After receiving Goldie, we decided that 50% of the charitable hire revenue generated from the machine throughout the financial year [2019/2020] would be donated to The Lighthouse Club and we were absolutely delighted when Kubota very generously agreed to match the figure as well.”

Consequently, an overall sum of £3,040 has been donated to the charity.

As was recently highlighted on the blog, GAP personnel play an active part in raising funds for good causes. The group donates 0.5% of annual profits to a variety of local, national and international charities through its GAP Giving foundation.
