Zapping hunger

Paragon Protection Systems, the innovative company behind Zappshelter temporary storage buildings and Zapptizer anti-Covid-19 sanitiser, is generously supporting a food bank near its Perthshire headquarters.

“No child deserves to go hungry and my heart goes out to parents who aren’t able to put food on the table at the moment through no fault of their own,” managing director Craig Michel tells me. “Having had a good year ourselves, we’re in a position to help others who haven’t.

“I contacted the Trussell Trust which runs the food bank in Perth and many others throughout the country. I asked them about the sort of things they needed and we’ve donated more than £4,000 worth of tinned fruit and meat, fruit juice, toothpaste, toothbrushes and many other essentials - but no baked beans because, apparently, everyone donates them!

“We made enquiries with some wholesale contacts and had a bulk order delivered to our premises here in rural Inchcoonans. We parcelled it all up, took it to the food bank and carefully offloaded all the items for them. They’re absolutely thrilled,” says Craig.

• Zapptizer has proved to be a major success story in this unpredictable year. Look out for more about that in a future post.
