Mini Meals make big impact

With a second wave of the pandemic, a second lockdown throughout England starting this Thursday and restrictions already in place in the devolved nations, life continues to be a challenge for many.

However, many hirers and suppliers have introduced praiseworthy initiatives to help others during these uncertain times, and amongst them is the site accommodation specialist, Mobile Mini.

The company, which has its headquarters in Stockton and a total of 16 depots, has just launched a charity pledge called Mobile Mini Meals to collect donations for food banks across the country.

The firm will open a container at each of its sites for staff and the public to donate food and other items. This will then be distributed locally.

Andrew Thompson, managing director (pictured), said, “Figures from The Trussell Trust, which runs a network of food banks across the country, suggest a rise of more than 60% in demand as a direct result of the impact of the coronavirus pandemic.

“To start off each container, every depot was allocated £100 to spend on food and other essentials. Within 24 hours our staff had also donated £600 via a Just Giving page we have set up," he added.

Managers at each Mobile Mini site are encouraging local businesses and members of the public to get involved and the initiative has also gained exposure on local radio networks.
