Chippers in demand
22 October 2020
GreenMech has seen strong demand for its wood chippers from home owners and contractors working on gardens and landscaped areas.
“We have had one of our best years in terms of orders and hirers have certainly been kept busy,” says sales and marketing coordinator, Steve Kirk. “Soon after the lockdown was announced, tree surgeons and landscapers realised that they could socially distance easily outdoors and keep workng. And many home owners decided to upgrade their gardens while they were furloughed.”
One recent GreenMech customer is GA Plant and Machinery Hire in Swindon, which has become the first company to take delivery of the manufacturer’s new petrol-engined EVO 165P Sub-750 model.
The road-tow machine can process timber of up to 15cm (6in) diameter and is lighter than some diesel equivalents.
“One of the major plus points was the ease of maintenance, as the EVO has centralised greasing points,” says owner/director Angus Lacy-Hulbert. “Being sub-750kg was critical for our largely domestic client base, delivering powerful performance in a package that can be towed on a standard car licence.”
