Eagle swoops on Survey

Today sees the official launch of Glasgow-based Eagle Plant Hire’s new Survey & Safety activity, introduced to meet customer demand.

The operation is based at Bailleston to the east of Glasgow near the M8 motorway link and is separate from Eagle’s main tool and equipment hire depot in the city. The company also has a second tool hire branch in Edinburgh.

News of Eagle's Survey & Safety plans aroused strong interest prior to the launch and Eagle’s sales director, Iain MacDonald, tells me, “It’s going great. Many of our existing clients had said they needed a reliable supplier of this sort of equipment, and so that gave us a customer base to start from. And we’ve already gained new business from some significant Scottish contractors and utilities.

“We have invested heavily in new stock for the depot including Topcon and Leica survey equipment, and Draeger gas detection products. We are also offering communication systems.”

An earlier post on this site reported how Eagle had bounced back quickly from the lockdown and this further development confirms its positive mood.

Iain adds that “business generally is booming. Our Glasgow and Edinburgh tool hire depots are really flying and we are working flat out to keep up with demand.”

The clear demand for survey equipment is particularly pleasing because such products are used in the early design stages of a project, suggesting that new construction activity will start some time in the future.
