Makita’s new Experience

On-site social distancing requirements and restrictions on the number of people who can assemble in the same space are making sales people explore new ways of demonstrating products.

While video conferencing services like Zoom can facilitate initial discussions, people still want to try, hear and touch equipment for themselves.

“Our sales people have been out and about visiting landscapers and building contractors individually in their local areas to talk about the latest products like our new XGT 40V cordless tool line-up,” Makita UK’s marketing manager, Kevin Brannigan, tells me.

“On our website we’ve also introduced an online booking system enabling people to arrange a local, Covid-19 compliant ‘XGT Experience’ demonstration of the tools they want to know more about. We can explain why we have developed the 40V platform and the benefits it gives. We’re also promoting this on social media channels and via email.”

Makita sales people will arrange a mutually convenient time and place for the socially distanced demonstration. Equipment will be cleansed with sanitising wipes before and afterwards, and participants will wear masks.

The manufacturer states that the 40V XGT platform offers more power for higher demand applications, enabling jobs to be completed more efficiently than 18V alternatives.

Tools available in the line-up include SDS-Plus rotary hammers, angle grinders, combi-hammer drill, reciprocating saw, circular saw and impact driver.

Also available is a cordless swing fan. Cool!
