CPA Stars shine
18 September 2020
The Covid-19 pandemic meant that the CPA’s Stars of the Future awards became an online event. It took place yesterday, having been scheduled originally to be held on 10 June.
Nevertheless, Chief Executive Kevin Minton said that the 2020 Awards attracted more than 70 entries, the highest ever number in the event’s eight-year history.
The Awards are open to Level 2 and Level 3 apprentices and trainee plant mechanics studying at colleges throughout the country.
While most nominees were from the world of heavier plant, there were several successes at the other end of the machinery spectrum.
Regional Level 2 Plant Mechanic of the Year winners included Connah Craw of Griffiths Hire Shops, who attends Myerscough College in Lancashire, and Alisha Giles of GAP Group who studies at Reaseheath College, Cheshire. Sunbelt Rentals’ Joshua Foord, another Reaseheath student, was highly commended.
Alisha Giles went on to be highly commended at National level.
Winners can receive a variety of prizes including Snap-on tool kits, diagnostic iPads and special training opportunities.
