According to AJC EasyCabin, people are really warming to the concept of eco-friendly site welfare equipment. Literally.
The company is one of the many manufacturers that have continued to develop new products despite the Covid-19 disruption.
The latest addition to its range is the Solar Dryer Pod for drying workwear and clothing using the sun’s energy.
Power is harnessed by solar panels feeding a battery, which can be topped up by an integral backup generator. This drives a pump which blows air into the cabin space.
Special drying system
To replicate drying clothes on a windy day, the unit has a ‘desiccant wheel’ to promote the release of dampness from the clothes and to remove it, rather like a dehumidifier.
This reduces the amount of heat required and prevents condensation, states the company. Moisture is removed from the air which is then re-circulated within the Pod. The product is available in static and mobile versions.
Sales Director Lisa Gillett says that the first Solar Dryer Pod was sold almost as soon as it came off the production line at AJC’s Luton factory.
Environmentally friendly
“Some suppliers were initially concerned that interest in environmentally friendly solutions would decline during the lockdown, but it’s been quite the opposite,” she tells me.
“People on furlough sitting in their gardens or walking outside were aware of the cleaner air because of the lower traffic levels. They really see the need for green products, and this whole issue is very much at the forefront now.”
