What’s in the bag?
15 July 2020
It’s a time-honoured fixture in the marketing world: the goody bag.
Reps calling on customers or prospects would flourish a business card and a complimentary pack of branded items.
We’re all familiar with freebies like a pen, mug, notepad, key ring, water bottle, stress ball and mints.
But has Covid-19 changed this? After all, the Health and Safety Executive advises to “avoid sharing pens or other objects to reduce the risk of transmission”.
However, branded merchandise suppliers have responded with new options. The goody bag for the new normal could include branded reusable face masks, hand sanitiser, tissue packs, antimicrobial mouse mats and social distancing lanyards.
It might even contain an ‘antimicrobial hygiene key’ for use with door handles, keypads, doorbells, lift buttons and cash points without direct hand contact.
Antimicrobial mugs are also available. And as a writer and blogger, I’m mightily relieved that there are bio-free antibacterial ballpens designed with “silver ion technology for continuous sterilisation”.
Seriously though, the goody bag is an established goodwill generator, so marketing departments will doubtless be pleased that it can continue.
