Snooze at Nixon hotels

Nixon Hire has just introduced a new concept enabling site contractors to offer hotel accommodation for workers while maintaining social distancing requirements.
Called the Snoozepod Hotel, it is based around modular and scalable configurations of the Snoozepod sleeper units that Nixon introduced into its fleet about a year ago.
They were designed in association with AJC EasyCabin, which manufactures them at its factory in Luton. In Hotel mode they can be placed two-high and in twin rows with a corridor down the middle. That’s not new in itself, but as a marketing concept the Hotel idea is strikingly original and adds extra enhancements.
Separate rooms
So what awaits you when you arrive? Each Snoozepod provides two separate bedrooms with lighting, kitchen area, microwave, toilet and shower. Exterior solar lights and solar panels can be provided, together with backup storage batteries for green operation.
The steel walls and roof are Rockwool insulated and produced in accordance with Building Regulations requirements for fire resistance.
“As soon as lockdown started we saw huge demand for quality sleeping accommodation for site workers because so many hotels were closed,” said Managing Director Graham Nixon.
He anticipates long-term demand for the Snoozepod Hotel concept, on projects such as power station maintenance shutdowns and HS2 contracts, as well as for remote sites.
TVs and pool tables
“We offer a full '360 degree' approach, and installations can include a reception area, onsite laundry, storage space and a modular recreation block complete with entertainment systems, TVs and even pool tables,” said Graham.
“A cleaning service is provided, just like a normal hotel, and rooms can be booked online or via a dedicated app.”
Graham tells me that Nixon Hire has already provided a 110-bed Snoozepod Hotel at one site, and that the company will be increasing its fleet of these units to meet demand.
“So many site accommodation suppliers just offer the same basic kind of cabin, but Jav [Samsa] and his team at AJC EasyCabin are always willing to do something different and bespoke,” said Graham.
