Network opportunities

8 June 2020

The Hire Network, which specialises in nationwide re-hire, found that skips were in high demand almost as soon as the lockdown started.

“Many people who were furloughed were getting on with jobs at home,” MD Barry Dean told me. “Smaller skips were particularly in demand, to place outside their house. I don’t think we’ve ever had to provide as many of these.

“We initially furloughed half our team of six. We gave the others laptops to work from home but there was always one of us in the office. We knew that construction activity would continue throughout. It was sometimes frustrating that so many hirers had suspended operations completely. Some contractors wanted to off-hire kit but couldn’t get it picked up.

“We also had steady demand for towers and powered access for site work, and there is an on-going need for fencing and barriers for social distancing requirements.

“We are bringing our staff back from furlough as business increases and we are actually looking for an additional hire controller based in the Royston area.” For more details ring 01763 250455.
