Back to work with HSC

At last, more shops and offices are getting back to work in England. Open-air markets and car showrooms were given the green light to re-open from 1 June, and non-essential shops should be able to trade from 15 June. It's hoped that other parts of Britain will see restrictions easing soon, too.

This is great news for the economy. However, staff and customers will need to observe new measures for health and safety, such as wiping down work surfaces and equipment regularly, keeping hands clean and socially distancing by staying at least 2m apart. This will be part of the ‘new normal’ for some time to come.

I’m impressed by how quickly HSC (Hire Supply Co) has acted to meet this need by launching its new Stay Safe range. This includes sprayers, foggers, concentrated anti-virus sanitising fluid, pressure washers, wipes and, even, special heaters that generate very high temperatures to disinfect rooms.

MD Gary McWilliam tells me that the company has carefully sourced these products from new and existing suppliers. Hirers can use them to clean their own premises and equipment, as well as offering them to their customers for site use.

“Everyone’s workplace regimes will change,” says Gary. “Hirers have to ensure equipment is clean when it goes out on hire, sanitised when it comes back and stored in a controlled environment.”

Office workers will also need to follow the guidance. Gary and his team at HSC’s Nottingham HQ now frequently clean their desks, chairs, phones, computer screens, keyboards and other equipment throughout the day.

When you consider that every re-opened workplace should be carrying out such procedures, the need for products like these is vast.
