Nixons get their work done

Many people have had to adapt to different ways of working and daily routines during the Covid-19 crisis, and Graham Nixon, MD of Nixon Hire, is a typical example.
When I rang him recently he was busy working at home, while also keeping an eye on his children. They were working just as hard, completing online tasks set by their school, which like virtually all others had been closed due to the pandemic.
“We have kept all our depots open throughout to meet the needs of the NHS and other essential services,” Graham told me.
“Because we had steadily grown to become a national operation, we centralised our hire desk operation last year to a dedicated facility at the Newcastle head office. The 50 people on that team are currently all working from home, and it really has been a seamless transition.
“Demand for toilets and site welfare is really strong at the moment. We have more than 10,000 toilets in our fleet and utilisation is virtually back to normal levels, serving large and small builders, utilities and contractors. Our Snoozepod sleeper units [developed in association with AJC EasyCabin] are proving extremely popular. We supplied more than 100 of them recently for a power generation shutdown in the north east.”
