New frontier for MCS

Hire software specialist MCS continues to build a presence in the United States.

Last year the company established MCS Inc. based in Birmingham, Alabama, and in February it exhibited at the ARA Show in Orlando, as reported previously on the blog. 

“It was one of the busiest exhibitions we’ve attended and we added a number of new customers as a result, with more leads to follow up,” MCS Marketing Manager Megan Young told me recently. 

Interestingly, in some instances, the MCS-rm software package and associated modules have to be tailored to meet specific market requirements. These include the ability for account customers to pay via credit card, which is very common in America, as well as integration with online payment systems that capture customers’ details to make future transactions faster. 

MCS Sales Director Nick Thompson added that another requirement can be the ability to deal quickly with local tax rates, particularly on inter-state transactions. Hirers can enter the specific contract details and the software will automatically calculate the relevant pricing information. 

Nick also commented on the difference in scale between the UK and US markets: some ‘small’ hire companies across the Atlantic can have 25 depots or more.
