Winget adds to the mix

Mixer manufacturer Winget is celebrating its 115th anniversary this year and continues to expand its product range, with its latest electric powered models proving particularly popular.
The business was founded in 1908 when British engineer John Faulder Burn acquired the UK rights to a block moulding machine from the US and began developing other products including what is described as the first tilting drum mixer, later followed by a range of other site mixers.
Winget became a sister business to Seddons Engineering Holdings in 1992 and continues to manufacture machines at its factory in Bolton.
MD Phil Winnington tells me that the 110V electric 110Te (pictured below) version of Winget’s popular 110T diesel site mixer has proved popular quickly since its launch earlier this year, followed by larger 110V 150Te and 175Te models.
“The electric mixers are growing in popularity because contractors increasingly need to shift to greener machines and leaner processes,” he says. “Demand also remains strong for the diesel versions with Yanmar Stage V engines, including road-tow models.”
Besides the UK market, Winget has a long history of exporting its products to a growing number of overseas countries. Phil tells me that the company recently received an order from a Winget mixer owner in Uruguay who bought spares for a machine dating back to 1951, showing the robustness and longevity of the units.
