More from Morris

Expansion is planned at Morris Machinery.

That’s what David Hunt, a director of the John F Hunt group told me in an update following the organisation’s acquisition of the business in August, as reported on the blog at the time

Morris, whose main brands include Denyo generators, ArcGen welder generators and Hilta pumps and pressure washers, is a long-established supplier of Denyo machines to John F Hunt, whose interests include demolition, civil engineering, land remediation, environmental monitoring, asbestos abatement, equipment hire and power generation.

However, David, who is also managing director of the John F Hunt Power division, told me that Morris Machinery will act very much as a stand-alone operation supplying its long-established and diverse customer base. Similarly, John F Hunt Power will continue to source its generators, lighting towers and other equipment for its fleet from several sources according to requirements.

The Morris operation has now relocated from its Wolverhampton offices to a new facility in Shrewsbury and all staff have been retained.

“Denyo products are core to the Morris operation. They are ‘Rolls-Royce’ quality products and it was important that John F Hunt and other customers had continuity of supply,” said David. “The aim is now to expand stock levels and to develop the product range further.”

Denyo’s generator range includes Renta and Eventa models, the latter (pictured below) being ‘ultra quiet’ units for markets like events and film studios. Both line-ups currently include Stage V machines spanning 20kVA to 100kVA.

Morris has also asked Tokyo-based Denyo to develop 160kVA and 200kVA machines for the UK market.

But that’s not all. Denyo has been busy developing hydrogen powered generators, including models running in tandem with fuel cells and machines with internal combustion engine (ICE) running on a mix of hydrogen and diesel or an equivalent like HVO.

“These include a 40kVA fuel cell model and a 250kVA ICE machine. Morris will be bringing them to the UK market as soon as possible,” said David.

“Morris will be introducing a range of lighting towers in time for the Executive Hire Show in February.”

And there are other developments in the Morris pipeline, which we should hear more about next year.
