Next Halt ahead
16 August 2022
Halt Hire based in Stockton-on-Tees plans to open a second depot in Barnsley by the end of the summer, reflecting the company’s ongoing growth and strong customer demand - which is a really positive sign for the industry generally.
The business has found 13,000 sq ft premises in the South Yorkshire town from which it will offer tools, compact plant and equipment, as well as toilet hire from its sister operation, Halt Toilets Ltd, which was launched last year.
MD Simon Whitfield tells me that Halt already serves a number of significant clients in Yorkshire giving it an established foothold to develop from.
More personnel will be added for the Barnsley depot, bringing Halt’s headcount to 13 full-time and three part-time, with more likely to follow in due course.
The business continues to expand its operation and currently has 3,500 items in its fleet, not including non-mechanical equipment like mobile access towers, and demand is extremely strong.
“We have 46 diggers in the fleet now and they are virtually all out on hire,” says Simon. “We are constantly adding new equipment and waiting for more to be delivered, including eight more diggers, 20 cut-off saws, 14 petrol breakers, 20 CATs and gennys, ten compaction plates and nine rammers to meet customer demand.
“Also, I’d say that our toilet hire business is exploding, not just expanding. We now have 195 toilets in the fleet and we will be adding more in the future.”
